Ann Parker - Health Kinesiology Practitioner and Trainer - Vital Health Matters

Ann ParkerI was born and grew up in far north Queensland before the tourists discovered its wonders.I graduated from the Queensland Teacher’s College in 1960 and taught in mainstream education in Queensland for 6 years.  In 1967 I took the opportunity to move to British Columbia, Canada and taught in Canada for a further 6 years in mainstream education as well as running evening educational programmes for adult learners.  I spent my last year in Canada in northern Quebec where I discovered the delights of cross country skiing.

Leaving Canada in July 1972 I spent 6 months touring northern Europe with a friend and we subsequently opened a gift shop in Ripon, in rural North Yorkshire, England.  In the late 1980s I was introduced to the Bach Flowers Remedies and soon started to acquire and work with further essences from around the world. I now have a collection of over 2000 Vibrational Essences from around the world which I use to homeopathically prepare personalised essence mixes for clients.

In early 1990, I trained in Health Kinesiology with Jane Thurnell-Read and became so excited with HK and its possibilities for changing people’s lives for the better, I employed more staff to enable me to develop a practice in Ripon.

In those early days of Health Kinesiology in the UK, I was the only practitioner in the north of England and clients came from as far afield as Aberdeen in Scotland for sessions.  I attended every HK course available travelling to London to do courses with HK’s founder, Dr Jimmy Scott whenever he was over from Canada as well as doing all the courses that Jane instructed.  My practice grew rapidly and I was rapidly notching up the hours of clinical practice required to teach HK myself.  I joined the Kinesiology Federation, the UK’s professional umbrella for all kinesiologists, in 1991 and became a professional member in 1992.

As teaching has been one of my lifetime passions I was delighted to be authorised by Dr Scott to teach HK in 1993 and have since taught numerous classes of HK 1 to 7 in England.  I was invited to Germany to teach HK in 1997.  From 1996 to 2002, I was a member of the working party set up to establish the National Kinesiology Standards in the UK – granted by the UK government in  April 2002.  In 2001, I was privileged to take over from Jane Thurnell Read as the HK UK co-ordinator for the Open College Net Work based at Leeds Metropolitan University in Yorkshire as well as becoming lead tutor and Head of HK in the UK.  In the United Kingdom HK was awarded simultaneous accreditation by the Open College Networks of the South West and West North Yorkshire on July 1, 1996.  I was elected a Policy Board member of the Kinesiology Federation in April 2002 and had the privilege over several years of working with very committed kinesiologists to further Kinesiology in the UK. In September 2007 I was made a Fellow of the Kinesiology Federation in recognition of my contribution to kinesiology in the UK.

With Dr Scott's permission Ann has submitted Health Kinesiology for recognition as an advanced professional kinesiology to the Australian Kinesiology Association (granted May 2007) and the Kinesiology Association New Zealand (granted September 2010).

Ann is a Chartered Natural Therapies Practitioner and professional member of the Kinesiology Association of New Zealand and the UK Kinesiology Federation.
